"El Jibarito" refers to a rural farmer in Puerto Rico who worked on sugarcane farms and other agricultural establishments, often under difficult conditions. These farmers, known as jíbaros, faced low wages from both the Spanish colonizers and the United States during the colonial and post-colonial periods. Despite the financial struggles, they worked hard to support their families, cultivating the land and preserving traditional ways of life. El Jibarito symbolizes the resilience, hard work, and connection to Puerto Rico's agricultural roots, and he represents the deep cultural ties to the land and the enduring spirit of the Puerto Rican people.
